Glass Making Classes

 

 

 

The Canal Fulton Glassworks is proud to offer classes and one day workshops in hot glass working. No prior glass working experience is necessary. Classes are offered on Saturdays at 10:00 AM and again at 2:00 PM. Contact us for special times or days if Saturday does not fit your schedule. All classes instructed by our resident artist: Brian Graham.

We strive to offer participants a safe and positive art glass experience. Participants must be at least 14 years of age and in good health. All participants must sign a waiver of release prior to class. Minors are required to take the class along with their legal guardian. All classes must be prescheduled. All fees must be paid before the class begins and are non refundable once the class starts. Gift Certificates for classes are available for sale at the gallery.

Current Hot Glass Workshop Schedule

 A reservation is required. A deposit of $10 is required to hold a class spot. Please note: Because glass must cool down over a 24 hour period, it will be necessary to return to the studio some time after the class to pick your completed projects up. Generally this is on the next day we are open which is Tuesday.

Glass Paperweight Class

Students will try their hand at making a classic art glass paperweight. Color will be applied and basic hand tool techniques will be utilized. This is worked on a punty rod and is not blown. This class is limited to 4 students at a time on a first come, first served basis. Costs is $50 (plus tax) per person.

Glass paperweight similar to what is made in the class. Color and shape will vary.

 

Glass Pendant Class

Students will try their hand at making an art glass pendant. Glass color will be applied and manipulated on a punty rod to form a wearable piece of art glass. This is worked on a punty rod and is not blown. Pendants average about 1.5" round in size. Each student will make one pendant. We offer this class as a group experience for adults - an evening of hot glass, wine, and Hors d'oeuvres. Call for details.

Beginning Glass Blowing

Glass blowing instruction is available for interested parties. All prospective students must first take the Glass Paperweight Class and meet with our resident artist Brian Graham. Instruction involves 2 hour class intervals and typically lasts 6 weeks.  Call for pricing and info.

 

Glass Bead Making Classes

Glass bead making classes are offered on an individual basis. You will receive one on one instruction. Our instructor has been making glass beads since 1994. We offer classes for beginners with no experience or intermediate classes for individuals with some experience. Introductory classes will cover the history of glass bead making, safety practices, and fundamental techniques for creating basic glass beads. Intermediate classes will focus on advanced techniques as determined by the student. We utilize a propane and oxygen torch in our studio - not a single fuel torch. 

No experience necessary. Call the studio to schedule a class at your convenience - 330-854-2966. The  minimum class time is 2 hours and cost $50. All materials included. Additional hours of instruction are available at a cost of $25 per hour.
